Blue Sky thinking in social media? It's all about what you can do to capture the few seconds people will give you on their timeline to make an impression.
There's been lots of talk this year about video. It's the reason I moved from a 20 year career at ITV News into video marketing. Well, the growing demand for video and the chance to actually see my children after years of going live at 6pm an hour or two or even three away from home!
What I've noticed so far, now six months into this new career, is that video gets a much better reach and engagement on social media than standard posts that contain a still image or no image at all.
Video is now the new normal. It's how people consume so much of their entertainment, news, sport so why shouldn't it be the way that they learn about your business?
Social media video should be all about getting your message out in a timely fashion. Filming, editing and posting as quick as your customers would expect to see it.
Blue Sky thinking? If the sun is shining and your business is best in great weather then get some posts out there showing how fantastic it is to be where you are right now. People will remember.
That's my approach anyway. Positive, encouraging, forward thinking. Successful.
